The Jazz musician Jaimie Branch, the trumpeter behind the crisp and energetic album FLY or DIE Live, has died at 39. Branch died in her home in Red Hook, Brooklyn, on Monday evening, her Chicago-based record label International Anthem announced.

“Show your love and support for your family and friends and anyone who may be in need — just like Jaimie did for all of us.” Kate, branch’s sibling has called her older sister the “bravest person” she knew as she mourned her death.
She was survived by her mother, Sally, sister, Kate, two brothers, Russell and Clark, as well as her nieces and nephews.
