The identity of the 18-year-old who was shot and killed during a robbery at an Oak Park gas station has been released.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office recognized Jailyn Logan Bledsoe, 18, of Oak Park on Thursday. According to school officials, Logan Bledsoe attended Oak Park and River Forest High School.

“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Oak Park and River Forest High School student Jailyn Logan-Bledsoe was accosted and killed early yesterday during a robbery at a local gas station. Please keep Jailyn’s family in your thoughts during this difficult time,” the school said in a statement.

According to school administrators, both kids and employees can get grief counseling.

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, police said they responded to reports of gunfire at a petrol station at 100 Chicago Avenue and discovered Logan Bledsoe, who had been shot in the head. At a local hospital, she was declared dead.

According to witnesses, two guys approached the woman just before 2 a.m., shot her from behind, and then seized some of her possessions, according to the police. The victim’s dark Chrysler then served as their getaway vehicle.

The police investigation is being aided by surveillance footage, and the West Suburban Major Crimes Task Force has been contacted to help. No one is being held in custody right now.
