Isabella Kalua was last seen sleeping in her room in Waimanalo, on the island’s eastern coast, at 9 p.m. on Sunday, according to Honolulu police.

The brown-eyed, brown-haired girl was classified as white and mixed-race by police. She was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black leggings, colorful socks, and Nike slides with pink bottoms, according to police.

According to the state Department of Education, the adoptive parents of a missing 6-year-old Hawaii girl took her out of school to home-school her.

According to Nanea Kalani, a spokesman for the education department, Isabella Kalua attended kindergarten at Waimanalo Elementary via distance learning last school year. Her adoptive parents filed paperwork with the school in June to withdraw the child so that she could be home-schooled, according to Kalani.

Thursday marked the fourth day of the search for Kalua. Honolulu police say she was last seen resting at home in Waimanalo, on the east side of the island of Oahu, on Sunday night.

Sonny and Lehua Kalua adopted the girl in January, according to the Associated Press. “The cops have told us from the beginning that we’re not supposed to talk to reporters,” he stated.

There isn’t enough evidence to suggest she was kidnapped, according to Interim Chief Rade Vanic of the Honolulu Police Commission.
