Veteran Greek Actress, Irene Papas, dies at 96

Irene Papas was a Greek actress and singer who has worked in excess of 70 films in a career spanning more than 50 years.

She is of one the prominent names in the entertainment world. She has now departed to the high heavens above.

How Did Irene Papas Die?

In the year 2013, she began to suffer from Alzheimer’s disease. Later the legendary Greek actress died on 14 September 2022, while spending her final years in Chiliomodi.

The actual cause of death has not been confirmed as of now.

She was born on 3 September 1926 in Chiliomodi, Corinthian, Greece. She died at the ripe old age of 96. Irene is the daughter of her mother, Eleni Prevezanou who was a schoolteacher, and her father, Stavros Leeks who teaches classical drama at the Sofikós School in Corinth.
