“I went back to September 12, 2012, and I couldn’t function or think so I left work and went home trying to get myself together to come here any way we are here it’s been a long nine years and nine days as he said and first and foremost I want to thank God for this day that he allowed me to stay alive and see this day,” Roland Hedgepeth Faith said.

Faith’s mother, Connie Hedgepeth, said, “When I got the news this morning, all I could do was cry and thank God and praise God because I put it in his hands and it was his timing, I don’t know why it took so long but I just know it was him and I just thank the Chapel Hill Police Department, the SBI, anyone who had a hand in helping to investigate this case.”

Gov. Roy Cooper said on Twitter, “Thank you to the NC State Bureau of Investigation, the State Crime Lab, Chapel Hill Police, and other law enforcement agencies for working tirelessly and never giving up on solving the murder of UNC students Faith Hedgepeth over a decade ago. This morning, an arrest was made.”
