The untimely death of one of their deputies earlier in the week was reported by the Ramsey County Sheriff’s office on Wednesday.

Dallas Edeburn, a deputy, worked in Ramsey County for seven years. He began his career there as a correctional officer before beginning in 2017 at the sheriff’s office.

When Edeburn’s Sunday shift ended, the sheriff’s office discovered that he had not gone home. Officers located him dead inside his car after investigating the area between the station and his house. An early autopsy revealed no signs of trauma or injury.

In March of last year, a stolen car escaping from Mounds View police struck Edeburn’s squad car, causing significant injuries. Following recovery from his injuries, he was able to resume his full-duty duties.

Sideburn worked for the violent crime enforcement unit, the courts, patrol, and training. He was praised for his brave actions by the sheriff’s office during SWAT operations.

“Our hearts go out to Dallas’ wife, family, and friends. He was larger than life, both in his physical presence and his service to Ramsey County,” said Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher.
