According to police, a woman and her dog who went missing in Dandenong North have been found safe.

Cara Morrissey, 30, went for a stroll with her white Maltese poodle, Holly, on Somerset Drive on Tuesday at 7:30 a.m.

She was discovered on Wednesday afternoon, Victoria Officers said, after an intensive search by police and the State Emergency Service of Tirhatuan Park, near the Dandenong Creek.

Police were concerned about the weather conditions Ms. Morrissey encountered while she was absent overnight, according to Senior Sergeant Chris Savage.

Ms. Morrissey had gone home with only her dog and no personal things, and family members thought her departure was unusual.

“She is a regular walker, but she would usually return after an hour-and-a-half or so,” Sergeant Savage said.
