After leaving DuMont, Forrest went to work for Channel 5 in New York, where he directed the popular children’s show “Wonderama” until 1973, when he moved to lead the late-night “Dick Cavett Show.”

Forrest established himself in the world of live television after moving to Los Angeles in 1975, with shows like “That’s Incredible!” and “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” on ABC, as well as game shows like “The Money Maze” and “Matchmaker.” Forrest also won Emmys for directing “Leeza,” a daytime chat show, and then “The Rosie O’Donnell Show.”

For more than four decades, Forrest produced and directed Jerry Lewis’ nationally televised “Labor Day Telethon” for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
