Customs Comptroller for Trade Facilitation, Anthony Ayalogu, dies at 57

Anthony Ayalogu was a Comptroller who was a Fellow at the World Customs Organization (WCO) took over as Comptroller Trade Facilitation on 31 January 2022.

Ayalogu, the Comptroller of Trade Facilitation for the Nigeria Customs Service, has passed away at the cruel hands of death.

He was the Customs Comptroller overseeing the Trade Facilitation Unit of the Service up until his death. When he unexpectedly became ill upon arriving at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, he was traveling on business and passed out.

He was declared dead at 2020 hours on Monday, October 17, 2022, at the 465 Nigerian Airforce Hospital in Kano, despite all attempts to save his life. His age was 57.

Anthony Ayalogu, the comptroller, is a native of Anambra state’s Onitsha North Local Government Area. He graduated from the University of Port Harcourt with a Bachelor of Science in Botany. On September 24, 1991, he joined the Nigeria Customs Service as a cadet Assistant Superintendent.

On January 31, 2022, Comptroller Ayalogu, a Fellow of the World Customs Organization (WCO), assumed the position of Comptroller of Trade Facilitation.

He had a distinguished career as the Nigeria Customs Service’s reform champion and had previously worked for the Tariff and Trade Department’s System Audit Unit. He leaves behind a wife and kids.
