Adam Strachan, a former standout player for Ross County and Partick Thistle, passed away at the age of 35.

Strachan had a significant influence on Dingwall as well, helping the team advance through the leagues. Strachan played for a number of clubs in Scotland’s lower levels after leaving Ross County.

Before switching to junior football, he played for Dumbarton, Albion Rovers, Clyde, Stenhousemuir, and Arbroath.

Strachan joined Ross County in January 2008, after nearly four years with the Thistle first team and over 70 league appearances. Strachan had a significant influence on Dingwall, where he was influential in the club’s promotion through the levels. He went on to play for a number of clubs in Scotland’s lower leagues after leaving Ross County.

Before going to junior football, he played for Dumbarton, Albion Rovers, Clyde, Stenhousemuir, and Arbroath. He was one of Scotland’s most outstanding young players when he was just 19 years old and played for Partick’s first team. Sadly, Adam’s personal and professional lives quickly began to fall.

He was accused of attacking his girlfriend in 2009 while a student at Ross County. In 2012, he was sentenced to prison for carrying a weapon, and the following year, police discovered him in possession of $2000 worth of heroin.

Adam later played for Glenafton Athletic, BSC Glasgow, and East Kilbride after his 2013 jail release. Between 2015 and 2018, he was at East Kilbride before heading to BSC Glasgow. In October 2018, he sustained a horrific ankle injury during a game against Whitehill Welfare, thus ending his playing career at that level.

Strachan, a brilliant and skilled footballer, had his career derailed by legal difficulties off the field.
