Ta’Quawn Deon Henderson, a Germantown resident, has been charged with the murder of Jailyn James, also 17. According to NBC Washington, police have obtained an arrest warrant for Henderson after receiving a sliver of physical evidence linking Ta’s Quawn to Jailyn’s death.

On January 24, Jailyn Jones, 17, of Germantown, was discovered dead in a creek behind a house on Grotto Lane, just off Great Seneca Highway in Germantown.
Ta’Quawn Deon Henderson, 17, was detained on Monday, according to Police Chief Marcus Jones. According to State’s Attorney John McCarthy, he has been charged with premeditated first-degree murder as an adult.
Jones had been “stabbed numerous times” and had head wounds, according to Chief Jones. They also discovered clothing with “blood evidence,” according to Chief Jones, which they later linked to Henderson.
Henderson was arrested on May 12 and handed himself up late Sunday night.
Jailyn Jones was last seen on Friday, Jan. 21, and had informed many individuals he was going to meet “Tay,” according to the chief. Jones was caught on doorbell cameras that day leaving his residence alone.
While Chief Jones said Monday that police were “very confident that [Henderson] played a significant role,” there may be other people involved. “We’re not done yet,” Jones said.
The chief said no motive has been established yet, but that “We do know that they knew each other.”
He added, “This is a double tragedy; let’s be real. We have a 17-year-old arrested for murder … [and] it makes no sense that this young man has lost his life.”
