Who is Shannon “Shay” Ruth? Nick Carter ra*ed her at the age of 17, How old is she now? Family

On December 8, Shannon “Shay” Ruth filed a lawsuit against Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys, accusing him of raping her on a bus in 2001 while they were on their Black & Blue world tour. She was 17 years old when the incident happened. Presently she is 39.

In a Facebook Livestream, the alleged victim sobbed uncontrollably and confessed that Carter had s*xually r*ped her while she was a youngster.

“The last 21 years have been filled with pain, confusion, frustration, shame, and self-harm that are a direct result of Nick Carter raping me,” the victim alleged. “Even though I’m autistic and live with cerebral palsy, I believe that nothing has affected me more or had a more lasting impact on my life than what Nick Carter did and said to me.”

Carter has denied the allegations. “This accusation is categorically false, Nick is focusing on his family and mourning the death of his brother,” an unidentified source close to the singer told TMZ.

Carter responded to the accusations in a statement sent by his attorney on Thursday night.

“This claim about an incident that supposedly took place more than 20 years ago is not only legally meritless but also entirely untrue,” the statement from lawyer Michael Holtz reads. “Unfortunately, for several years now, Ms. Ruth has been manipulated into making false allegations about Nick – and those allegations have changed repeatedly and materially over time. No one should be fooled by a press stunt orchestrated by an opportunistic lawyer – there is nothing to this claim whatsoever, which we have no doubt the courts will quickly realize.”

Where is Shannon Shay Ruth currently?

She has sued the singer in Clark County, Nevada, so it is likely that she resides there. The legal lawsuit demands punitive damages, whose amount will be decided at trial, as well as monetary compensation for the plaintiff’s agony and suffering.

She claimed that on the night of the incident, Carter chose her from a line of waiting fans at the Tacoma Dome in Washington and invited her to board his tour bus. She was a virgin at the time, according to the court papers.

Ruth revealed specifics of the alleged crime, claiming that Carter had asked her if she wanted a drink and then offered her a “red-colored drink” he called a “VIP juice”; at the time, she thought the drink tasted strange, and she now believes it was a combination of alcohol and cranberry juice.

Carter allegedly told her to perform oral s*x on him as she “begged him to stop,” the filing stated. The boy band member allegedly told her to keep quiet as “he laid on top of her and said it would be our “special secret”.” Carter then allegedly continued to have s*xual contact with her after removing her pants against her will.

Ruth then further alleged, “After he r*ped me, I remember him calling me a ‘retarded b**ch’ and grabbing me and leaving bruises on my arm.”

The alleged victim claimed that following the incident, she contracted the s*xually transmitted infection HPV.

When she said she would be reporting the incident, Carter allegedly threatened her.

“Carter tried to scare me into silence,” she claimed, saying he told her “he’d turn people against me because he was Nick Carter and had the power to wreck my life.”

“I felt like I had nowhere to turn,” she said. “I truly believed if I told anyone, I would go to jail.”

A former member of the teen pop group Dream named Melissa Schuman came forward in 2017 and accused Carter of s*xually assaulting her in 2003 while they were filming the 2004 made-for-TV movie “The Hollow,” when she was 18 years old. This led to the filing of the lawsuit.
