As a youngster, Vos developed a deep admiration for stand-up comedy by avidly watching television, particularly finding inspiration in the performances showcased on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Rich Vos battled with addictions in his 20s

In 1987, Vos participated in a rigorous month-long rehabilitation program. At the time, he had been performing comedy for three years but was struggling with addiction to crack cocaine and alcohol, a battle that had consumed his twenties. However, he emerged from the program successfully and has maintained his sobriety ever since.

Rich Vos had been married twice

Vos’s journey through marriage has taken him down two paths. The first union brought forth the blessings of two daughters, Jessica and Ellen, but unfortunately ended in divorce. However, Vos’s heart found solace in the arms of comic Bonnie McFarlane, and they embarked on a new chapter as husband and wife in the serene month of September 2005.

Rich Vos and Bonnie McFarlane have been happily married for 17 years. Bonnie is a comedian and writer hailing from Canada and America. Born as the youngest of four children on a small farm in Cold Lake, Alberta, Bonnie was raised in a humble environment.

Her first open mic manager recognized her talent and encouraged her to participate in “The Search for Canada’s Funniest New Comic” event held in Vancouver. Bonnie went on to win first place in the competition and subsequently relocated to New York to further her career. After finding management and an agent in New York, she eventually moved to California where she focused on writing and performing stand-up comedy.

Her talent and hard work paid off as she got to perform on several popular late-night shows, including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman, and The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn.

In 2014, Bonnie’s husband Rich created “Women Aren’t Funny,” a comedy film that she wrote, directed, and released to critical acclaim. She also authored Anthony Bourdain’s memoir “You’re Better Than Me.”

Rich Vos is the Dad to three daughters

Rich Vos is the father of three daughters. He was wed to his first wife before marrying Bonnie. Along with his first wife, Rich has two children named Jessica and Ellen. He routinely updates his Instagram with photos of his daughter, of whom he is incredibly proud. 

Recent photographs of him bringing his oldest daughter down the aisle during her wedding were posted by him. He recently became a real-life grandfather for the first time after his oldest daughter Ellen gave birth to a daughter.

Bellevue was swarmed with viewers for the successful screening of Bonnie’s movie, in which she served as the investigative journalist, director, and writer. Rich was the executive producer of the film, and both of them spoke with Eric Johnson after the screening.

Bonnie was motivated to create the film due to the limited opportunities for women in stand-up comedy. Her outstanding work as a multi-talented filmmaker and comedian has undoubtedly opened doors for other women in the industry.
