While searching for the missing woman, Cumbria Police officers undertook a series of searches.
Following Sophie’s disappearance, dog units and specialized search teams were hired to try to locate her.
Cumbria Police said in a statement: “The corpse of a woman was discovered approximately 3 p.m. yesterday in the Burgh-by-Sands area, according to police.
“Formal identification has yet to be completed, and investigations are ongoing.”
