According to an FBI Special Agent’s affidavit, he confessed to the murders of his two children, ages 10 months and 2 years old, during an interview, claiming he thought they “were going to grow into monsters.”
The FBI affidavit states that during Coleman’s confession, “M. Coleman stated that he believed his children were going to grow into monsters and that he had to kill them.” According to the affidavit, Coleman claimed that “he was enlightened by QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories and was receiving visions and signs” that his wife had passed “serpent DNA” to their children.
So far, the FBI investigation has included the Santa Barbara Police Department as well as the County District Attorney’s Office. Coleman’s wife reported to Santa Barbara Police on Saturday, August 7, that her husband had taken their son and infant daughter in their Sprinter van, despite the fact that she had expected them all to go camping.
She met with an officer the next day after her phone calls to Coleman, as well as those of other family members, went unanswered. She stated that they had had no problems or disagreements and that she did not believe they were in danger. Coleman’s phone was found in Rosarito, Mexico after a missing person report was filed.

An agent contacted the Rosarito police — la Secretara de Seguridad Publica Municipal de Rosarito — who stated that two children had been discovered in a ditch around 8 a.m. that morning. The photos provided by the cops matched those provided by their mother.
On August 9, the chief prosecutor for Baja California, Hiram Sánchez Zamora, gave a press conference in which he described how a farmworker walking along a dirt road discovered the bodies after following a trail of “stains.” The crimes were allegedly committed with a wooden stake, according to investigators.
Coleman, on the other hand, confessed to killing the children with a spearfishing gun. Matthew described the same location where the bodies had been discovered earlier that day.
Coleman is being held in a Santa Ana jail and is scheduled to appear in federal court in Los Angeles this afternoon for a bond hearing.
