After completing her journalism studies, Amenta first gained experience as an associate producer at Comcast SportsNet in her hometown of Philadelphia. She then worked as an on-air anchor and reporter for WMDT station in Salisbury, Maryland.
Amenta later landed a position as a morning news anchor for NewsChannel 8 in Washington, D.C. Her morning news team earned the highest ratings in the country for morning broadcasts in April 2016.
As part of WPXI-TV’s morning news crew in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Amenta has been recognized numerous times for her enterprise and investigative reporting. She and her team won a 2015 Mid-Atlantic Emmy for coverage of the Franklin Regional High School stabbings tragedy.
Amenta has also earned three Pennsylvania Emmy awards for coverage of the Tree of Life synagogue shooting, Fern Hollow Bridge collapse, and Franklin Regional stabbings. Earlier in her career, she was a frequent recipient of Maryland Associated Press awards.
