Joshua Carney who is 28, has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 10 years after carrying out the random attack on March 1 this year while the mum was getting ready for work.

A burglar who was under the influence of spice forced his way into a family home and r*ped the mother and her 14-year-old daughter.
Joshua Carney, 28, who committed the random attack at around 6.45 am on March 1 of this year when the mother was getting ready for work and her daughter was asleep upstairs, was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 10 years.
After serving five days of an eight-year sentence for breaking into six homes around Cardiff, Carney, who is described as a career burglar, had just been freed from prison.
The older victim went to her front door when she heard Carney try the handle and then the post box, Cardiff Crown Court heard during his sentence hearing on Monday.
When she went outside, she discovered the defendant crouching around the side of her house, looking disheveled and barefoot.
She was repeatedly punched in the face by Carney after he broke into her house and locked himself inside. He then r*ped her in her living room.

Prosecutor Ieuan Bennett said: “The defendant told the victim ‘stop f***ing screaming or I am going to stab you’.
“She at that point didn’t know if the defendant was armed or not and became very concerned she and her daughter were going to end up seriously injured, if not killed, by the defendant.”
When the girl heard her mother being attacked, she was able to call the police and informed the call taker that she thought her mother had been stabbed.
Carney then attempted to break into the teen’s room, but her mother intervened, warning that if they disobeyed him, he may kill them both.

The defendant realized she must have contacted the police after grabbing the younger victim’s phone.
He then viciously abused the girl while raping both of them in the mother’s room.
Carney then attempted to exit the building, but when he opened the front door, he was met by police cruisers’ blue lights.
