Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance said Tuesday that two people are suspected of selling and enrolling around 250 bogus COVID-19 immunization cards in New York.
Jasmine Clifford, 31, is accused of using her Instagram account, @AntiVaxMomma, to sell 250 fraudulent vaccination cards. According to the district attorney, Clifford cooperated with Nadayza Barkley, 27, who allegedly falsely entered at least 10 people into the New York State Immunization Information System (NYSIIS) database.
Clifford and Barkley are both charged with conspiracy and offering a fake instrument for filing. Clifford was also charged with having a forged instrument in his possession.
“We will continue to protect public health in New York with proactive investigations like these,” said District Attorney Vance, “but the stakes are too high to handle fraudulent vaccination cards with whack-a-mole prosecutions.” “We need corporations like Facebook to take action to prevent fraud on their platforms,” says the author.
According to court filings, Clifford began advertising fraudulent vaccination cards on her Instagram account around May 2021, charging $200 per card.

According to records, Barkley, who works at a Patchogue medical practice, would reportedly enter their names into the NYSIIS database as having got their vaccines for an additional $250. According to investigators, Barkley entered at least ten names into the database.
Thirteen persons were charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument after they reportedly obtained the cards. They were all front-line personnel at hospitals, medical and nursing schools, and nursing homes. One of them was also charged with attempting to file a bogus instrument for payment to be placed into the database by offering a false instrument.
