Sammy Kimmence, 25, pretended to invest the money for Peter Martin and Peter Haynes but instead spent it on his lavish lifestyle.
Kimmence allegedly bought luxury clothes, settled restaurant bills, paid off his overdraft, and went on a trip to Ibiza while one of the victims was left “on the breadline,” according to the court.
Kimmence met the two men while working as a senior trader’ for Equine Global Sports Limited, a company that placed horse racing bets on behalf of customers in sales and administration.
When the company went out of business, Kimmence pretended to have relocated to S&S Trading Ltd and offered to take bets on behalf of his two victims.
Mr. Martin, of Havant, Hampshire, died last year at the age of 91, and 81-year-old Peter Haynes, of Okehampton, Devon, gave him £7,927.
Prosecutor Michael Mason stated, “This is a really ugly scam against two guys who Mr. Kimmence actively targeted.”
“He chose them because they were elderly, fragile, and isolated.” This wasn’t a move he made on the spur of the moment; it was something he planned.”
“All the savings I have collected throughout my working life have been wiped out, my bank account shows zero, I am sick with worry,” Mr. Haynes, an aircraft engineer, an RAF veteran, said in a statement read to the court.

Kimmence, who lives in Rayleigh, Essex, said he had saved £10,000 to compensate his victims and now plans to study quantity surveying.
He pleaded guilty to five counts of fraud and was sentenced to spend half of his sentence before being released.
