Cameron Biedscheid, a former St. Louis prep basketball standout, was tragically shot in north St. Louis County

Cameron Biedscheid, a former Cardinal Ritter boys basketball standout, was shot and died in unincorporated north St. Louis County on Friday night.

Biedscheid, a 2012 Cardinal Ritter graduate, was one of the area’s most accomplished basketball players in the last 20 years.

Biedscheid was killed shortly before 11 p.m. in the 6800 block of Champaigne Drive, where Cameron Biedscheid lived, according to police. At the spot, he was pronounced dead.

Biedscheid was selected the Post-Dispatch All-Metro player of the year, Mr. Show-Me Basketball by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association, Missouri’s Gatorade Player of the Year, and a Parade All-American as a senior at Cardinal Ritter. During that season, he averaged 31.7 points, 9.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.2 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game.

Biedscheid averaged 26.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.3 steals, and 1.9 blocks in three varsity seasons. When Biedscheid was a sophomore, Cardinal Ritter won the Class 3 state championship.
