On Monday afternoon, controversial pastor Artur Pawlowski was arrested on the tarmac at Calgary International Airport.
Sarah Miller, Artur’s lawyer, confirmed that her client had been apprehended, adding that he had arrived in Calgary after a trip to the United States.
The Calgary Police Service couldn’t say what Artur was arrested for on Monday but announced on Tuesday that he was charged with neglecting to wear a face-covering (March 13, 2021) and breaching a court order (June 5, 2021).
He was released Monday night, according to police.
Artur Pawlowski and his brother Dawid Pawlowski were detained in May for planning, promoting, and attending an illegal gathering. They held religious services that disobeyed masking and physical separation rules.
After intentionally breaking COVID-19 health requirements, the brothers were found guilty of contempt in June.

Alberta Health Services requested that Artur be incarcerated for 21 days and Dawid be sentenced to 10 days during a sentencing hearing earlier this month. Artur was asked to pay a $2,000 fine and $15,000 in expenses to the court.
On Oct. 13, a decision on the subject is expected.
