Sally Ann Howes Career, what was her profession?

Her first exposure to the stage was through school productions, but because she came from a theatrical family, another family member, an agent who was visiting the Howes family for dinner, was fascinated with her and soon offered the young Sally Ann for a role in a film. Thursday’s Child was written by playwright and screenwriter Rodney Ackland, who was also a close neighbor of the Howes family and was Ackland’s directorial debut. She appeared in a BBC TV adaptation of Cinderella in late 1950. Caprice, a Sandy Wilson musical, was Howes’ first professional theatrical role. In 1967, Howes began the lengthy filming schedule for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, a much-revived children’s picture (1968). Truly Scrumptious, the lovely aristocratic daughter of a chocolate magnate was her role. Despite multiple guest-starring performances in Mission: Impossible, Marcus Welby, M.D., Branigan, and The Men From Shiloh, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang did not restart Howes’ film career or begin a career for her in episodic television.

In the 1970s, she toured the United Kingdom with The King and I and then the United States with The Sound of Music.
