State legislators stopped early attempts to impeach Ravnsborg in March after criminal charges were brought against it. at the end of the trial at the end of August, when Ravnsborg abandoned the challenge.
Officials, including the attorney general, are subject to impeachment under the state constitution for “drunkenness, crimes, corrupt conduct, or misconduct or negligence in office.” Furthermore, for an official to be impeached, a majority of House members must approve, and a Senate trial must take place. According to the state constitution, a two-thirds majority in the Senate is required to convict and remove an official from office.
To impeach Ravnsborg, the special committee must recommend accusations, which must then be approved by a majority of House members.
