Shilese Jones is an American artistic gymnast who is a member of the United States women’s national gymnastics team born on July 26, 2002.
She was also a member of the team who won a gold medal at the 2018 Pan American Championships.

Jones was in a car accident in the past year which fractured her foot and back, just before the Olympics trials. The accident was far enough for her to take three, or four months of a break for recovery. The injury made her question her ability to make it back on time. She told about the incident and how it inspired her to overcome the challenges. She told that someone hit the front of her car when she was going around the roundabout.
But she never lost hope, making herself ready soon after the recovery and competing in Olympics after a couple of weeks. At that time, she took tenth place at Olympic Trials but sadly, USA Gymnastics sent the top nine women to Tokyo.

Shilese Jones’s father, Sylvester Jones, passed away around five months after her fatal accident. She and her family were devastated at that time by the death of their beloved family member due to kidney disease.
Shilese wrote on her Instagram, “He (her dad) suffered and was in severe pain, and on Monday his long-term battle ended and he died peacefully in his sleep as he wished and wanted.” She also added that “He was survived by me (Shilese), my mom, and my two sisters. My dad’s dream was to see me on the Olympic stage one day and he devoted anything and everything to gymnastics.”

Jones competed in the U.S. Challenge, winning gold on vault, and bronze in all-around and on the floor. At the 2014 Junior Olympic Nationals, she placed in the seventh rank.
In 2015 January, Jones left her old gym to train at Buckeye Gymnastics with National Team members Nia Dennis and Gabby Douglas. She competed in the American Classic in late May, winning silver on vault, and placing eleventh in the all-around, and nineteenth on beam.
In 2017 Shilese Jones competed at American Classic in July, placing tenth in the all-around. She also went on to compete at the U.S. Classic, placing fourth on floor, seventh in the all-around and on vault, sixteenth on balance beam, and eighteenth on the uneven bars.
Senior Career of Shilese Jones
In 2018 Jones made move from Buckeye to Future Gymnastics and made her senior debut at the American Classic in July, where she overcame a fall on the balance beam to win the all-around. After that month, she competed at the U.S. Classic, winning silver on the vault, and placing fourth in the all-around.
And in the year 2019 In August, Jones competed at the National Championships, placing fifth on vault, ninth on the floor, eleventh on beam, twelfth in the all-around, and fourteenth on bars.
In November 2020, she competed at the Friendship & Solidarity Competition in Tokyo, Japan, a warm-up event to test out safety precautions for the upcoming Olympics. She was a part of Team Solidarity and the whole team gold medal.
Currently, in march 2022, Jones left Future Gymnastics to train at Ascend Gymnastics in Washington. At the U.S. Classic in July, she won uneven bars gold, all-around, and floor exercise silver.
