On Sunday, Chandigarh University refuted accusations that personal recordings of dormitory females had been released, claiming that only one student had provided a video of her own that had been shared online. The girl has been taken into custody and a case has been opened by the police.

The police and the university administration have rubbished social media posts claiming that several girls attempted to die by suicide after their videos leaked. “A man from Shimla is known to the accused girl. Only after he is caught, more details will be known. The forensic probe of her mobile phone will be conducted,” said ADGP Gurpreet Kaur Deo as reported by news agency ANI.

“So far in our investigation, we have found out that there is only one video of the accused herself. She has not recorded any other video of anyone else. Electronic devices and mobile phones have been taken into custody and will be sent for forensic examination,” Mohali police chief Vivek Soni said, news agency ANI reported.

Soni said no deaths or suicide attempts have been reported and appealed to people to not believe rumors. “One student who was taken in an ambulance was suffering from anxiety and our team is in contact with her,” he said.

60 objectionable MMS

In a statement released by Chandigarh University, Pro-Chancellor Dr. RS Bawa said, “The rumor which is circulating through media that 60 objectionable MMS have been found of students … is totally false and baseless. During the preliminary investigation conducted by the University, there have been no videos found of any student which are objectionable except a personal video shot by a girl which was shared by herself to her boyfriend.”

The National Commission for Women released a statement where they said that they have taken serious note of the matter. “Chairperson Ms. Rekha Sharma has written to Director General of Police, Punjab, as well as Vice Chancellor of Chandigarh University to take stringent action against the culprits.” They further asked that necessary support be extended to the girls affected by the incident.

The investigation is ongoing, according to Manisha Gulati, chair of the Punjab State Women Commission. “Investigative work is being done because this is a significant subject. I’m here to reassure all parents of pupils that the accused will not escape punishment “She spoke. Ms. Gulati added that a few protesting students began to experience anxiety last night, which is why ambulances were dispatched to the school.

Arvind Kejriwal Statement

Punjab is ruled by the Aam Aadmi Party, which is led by Delhi’s chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal. Kejriwal called the incident “shameful” and urged patience. “A girl at Chandigarh University gained notoriety by making offensive recordings of numerous female students. This is a terrible, disgusting situation. The strongest punishment will be meted out to all of the offenders implicated. Girls who are victims are brave. We all support you. Everyone displays patience “According to Mr. Kejriwal’s tweet.
